Guidelines for Student Homework

Read notes at home (lecture notes and directorʼs notes). Read the script and the translation carefully and listen to the tape. Make sure you understand every line of the play.

Memorize your part scene after scene, with clear pronunciation. You have to understand your partnerʼs lines and learn your cues, too.

• Learn to walk, listen, etc. the way your character walks, listens, etc. Try to practice different movements and expressions in front of a mirror to get an idea of how your character behaves.

• To do homework better, always keep your scripts open during class and follow along, even if you are not on stage at the moment. This way, you will stay involved and absorb more Russian language and culture. If you have suggestions, write them down and remember to discuss them with the cast.
