«Minor» is an adaptation of an 18th century play by Denis Ivanovich Fonvizin, Catherine the Great’s best known playwright. The play is about a young nobleman who does not want to study -— but wants to marry. His doting mother, foreign teachers and servants are exposed as stupid and funny. Music and songs are written by the 20th century acclaimed and prolific Russian poet and composer, Yurii Chirsanovich Kim.

Note from Julia Nemirovskaya, the play’s director and script writer:

“The most amazing thing is that Fonvizin is not only still funny, he is still current! Love and thanks to the wonderful cast which included our faculty and the Department chair, all dressed in tricky 18th century costumes… glad we made it!”
